Barty breezes through to Australian Open fourth round

The World No.1 took just over an hour to record another imposing win as she continues to build momentum at her home grand slam.

Tournament favourite Ash Barty has taken another step towards Australian Open glory after disposing of Camila Giorgi in straight sets.

The Ngarigo woman breezed past her Italian opponent 6-2 6-3 in just over an hour to progress to the fourth round.

The World No.1 has not dropped a set in her three matches and has only lost 8 games as she builds momentum towards a first home grand slam title.

The win was built off a 61 per cent first-serve success rate, which she converted to points more than 90 per cent of the time.

She will face American Amanda Anisimova who upset defending champion Naomi Osaka 4-6 6-3 7-6 (10-5).
