Yolngu Radio and Visit East Arnhem Land offered up a treat for social media users on Saturday night, when the remote media organisation's Facebook and Instagram went live with a performance from Yirrnga Yunupingu, as part of the East Arnhem Live series.

Coronavirus restrictions and community lockdowns have had a heavy impact on tourism in the region, with festivals and events being cancelled.

But East Arnhem Live executive producer Nicholas O'Riley the concert series is a great way for artists and community members to come together online, as well as keeping culture alive during restrictions that mean large-scale ceremonies can't take place.
Saturday night's performance was the first in a series of live social media concerts planned to air over the next few weeks.

Upcoming performances will include The Andrew Gurruwiwi Band on May 2, Yirrmal Marika on May 9, and Rirratingu clan bunggul on May 16.
