An annual list naming Australia’s culturally most powerful people has included Indigenous actress Leah Purcell and the former Referendum Council.

The referendum and its co-chair Megan Davis were listed at seven on the list, while actor Leah Purcell came in at number eight.

The culture power list is released annually by the Australian Financial Review Magazine.

TV producers/brothers, Carl and Mark Fennessy topped the list ahead of the AFL Women's League and Waleed Aly.
The brothers are the creators of the television hits Masterchef, Offspring, Australian Survivor and Australian Ninja Warrior.

The AFL Women's League was second on the list.

AFR editor Matthew Drummond told AAP the list which included five women, two Indigenous figures and one gay person was the "greatest snapshot of the diversity existing within Australian society at present".
