Two men have been charged over allegedly sending racially abusive social media messages to Latrell Mitchell.

The NRL star received the messages over Instagram last weekend, with police launching an investigation earlier this week.

Police arrested two men on the NSW mid north coast today over the matter.

They have been charged with using a carriage service to harass, menace and cause offence.

Police also seized electronic devices from the men's homes.

The pair have been granted bail to appear in court next month.

Mitchell has spoken up about experiencing racism in the past, calling out some of the messages he's previously received on social media.

"They've got nothing better to do. They have to go after personal stuff, my race," he said, after receiving racism in 2019.

At the time, he promised to keep calling it out, for the good of future generations of First Nations people.
