The 25-year-old struck twice either side of half-time to send the Matildas through to the FIFA Women's World Cup round of 16 in second place, behind Group C winners Italy and ahead of rivals Brazil.
Kerr displayed a striker's instinct in Grenoble, finding the net with two headers and poaching the latter two courtesy of Jamaican errors deep inside the penalty area.
But while no other Australian player has ever managed such a feat in one World Cup match, the Matildas captain admitted four was not enough.
"I actually wanted more than that after myself, being my selfish self," Kerr said following full-time.
"I knew every goal would count and I'm just happy we could get that second spot.
"It's an amazing feeling. I feel pretty honoured just to score at a World Cup ... I guess that's something I will tell my kids when I get older.
"I'm obviously pretty excited I could score and help the team out. I feel relieved."
Ante Milicic's side will now face Norway in Nice on Sunday, leaving third-placed Brazil likely to face hosts and favourites France instead.
