Perth has won the battle to be the new home of the Australian Road National Championships in a landmark move that will see the event leave Victoria for the first time in 18 years.
The City of Light will be the epicentre of Australia's elite road competition for at least the next three years from 2025-2027.
“We are thrilled to present some of the best athletes in the world to some of the best sports fans in the world in the heart of Perth,” AusCycling CEO Marne Fechner said in a statement.
“Running the road races through such an iconic location is a privilege and a perfect way to showcase this beautiful city to the rest of Australia and a huge international broadcast audience.
“Perth will now become part of cycling lore and we can’t wait to see what stories unfold over the coming years.”
“We are thrilled the City of Light has been chosen as the host for the Championships," City of Perth Lord Mayor, Basil Zempilas said of the deal.
“The championships will attract thousands of people to our beautiful city in January 2025
and we can’t wait to put on a memorable show for our international and local visitors."
