Tomorrow is International Women's Day, so it feels entirely appropriate to celebrate a recent milestone in Australian fashion and representation: the casting of trans woman Andreja Pejic as the new face of Bonds.
Pejic joins a diverse cast for the new Bonds Intimately campaign, including New Zealand-born Victoria’s Secret model Maia Cotton and Fenty Beauty model Shanaya Peters.
Not only is it Pejic's first Australian lingerie campaign, it's the first time Bonds has used a trans woman at the forefront of their marketing - signaling a huge step forward for the iconic Aussie label.
“I am ‘Bonds girl’, it’s insane — it’s not that I grew up thinking I could ever be one,” Pejic told news.com.au.
“It’s a beautiful campaign," she continued. "I am just looking at the images now while we speak because I haven’t seen them yet - they are so nice with a diverse group of girls; it’s beautiful to see.”
