David Bowie continues to leave his mark on pop culture, three years after his death.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bowie’s iconic 'Space Oddity' track, Mattel has released a Barbie doll inspired by the "pioneer of sound and vision", complete with the star's 1973 Ziggy Stardust outfit.
“In a definitive celebration of two pop culture icons, Barbie honors the ultimate pop chameleon, English singer, songwriter and actor, David Bowie, whose dramatic musical transformations continue to influence and inspire,” Mattel said in a statement.
The $50 doll is being marketed as a limited edition collector's item, with a display stand, certificate of authenticity, and packaging which features photographs of Bowie in a variety of his iconic outfits.
First created by Ruth Handler in 1959, Barbie has previously made dolls inspired by Andy Warhol, Elvis, and Frank Sinatra.
