Courtney Act is not one to shy away from a history-making moment.
Since rising to fame on Australian Idol, then global dominance through RuPaul's Drag Race and Celebrity Big Brother UK, the local drag queen has consistently used her huge platform to educate the mainstream masses on LGBTIQ+ issues.
This week's performance on Dancing With The Stars was no exception, with Act, AKA Shane Jenek, choosing to address the nuance of gender expression by removing all of his makeup and dancing while presenting as male.
Performing a foxtrot/tango with partner Joshua Keefe, set to a sultry rendition of Britney Spears’ 'Toxic', Act was one point off a perfect score and advanced to the show's finale.
Sharing the routine on Instagram, Act wrote: "Two boys dancing together on Dancing With The Stars. First time in the Anglosphere!"
She added: "So honoured to have the opportunity and amazing to do it with @joshuakeefedancer! Hope you all enjoyed and pretty please vote for us!!!"
Fellow Drag Race alumni, including Bianca Del Rio and Adore Delano, expressed their support in the comments section.
According to Dancing With The Stars’ official website, the celebrity contestants compete for a chance to win the a $50,000 donation to their chosen charity, with Act choosing to highlight the work of Black Rainbow, a social enterprise specialising in suicide prevention and social outcomes for the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander LGBTIQ+ community.
