Transgender model and activist Chella Man is set to make his television debut later this year, winning the role of Jericho on season two of DC's Titans.
According to Comic Book Resources, the character of Jericho, son of Deathstroke, made his DC Comics debut in 1984's Tales of the Teen Titans #43.
Man, who is deaf, revealed the news of his casting on social media.
"It is UNREAL to finally announce I will be making my acting debut as Jericho on Season 2 of @titansnetflix with @thedcuniverse!" he wrote.
"In the comics, the character has always used sign language, as his vocal cords [have been] severed by assassins."
Describing his character, the Jewish/Chinese-American added: "Jericho’s mysterious powers are activated by his gaze - if he locks eyes with people he can control their bodies.
"As a trans, Deaf, Jewish person of color, I have always reminded myself of the power in my differences. It is a dream come true, now, as I will be able to showcase this power on the Titans.
"HUGE thank you to all who have supported me throughout this process!"
The series begins production in April.
