Hi guys, remember the 2014 Aussie horror flick The Babadook?
Pretty scary stuff, you might think.

Well folks, I'm here to tell you today to have no fear, because as it turns out, The Babadook is a gay icon now.

Yes, that's right. The Babadook has rightfully taken his place next to the likes of Cher, George Michael, Boy George, Madonna, my personal queen Britney Spears, and Lady Gaga (I suppose), and honestly, we couldn't be more ecstatic about it.

Originating on Tumblr, there's now significant Babadiscourse on both Twitter and Tumblr for you to sink your teeth into:

Anyway, here's just some of the tweets welcoming The Babadook into the queer community, just in time for Pride month in the US:

Some are excited to finally have Babadook representation in the world:

Some are sure that queer representation in horror is more common than we initially believed:

Others are celebrating that #loveislove:

Some people are like "a horror movie? Can't relate":

Honestly, he is pretty relatable:

Honestly save this post so you can print this out for Mardi Gras next year:

Nothing but well wishes for our icon:

And let's get drinks?

Because honestly, we respect the drama of it all.

Hopefully The Babadook will announce tour dates soon so we can all go see our fave gay icon in person!
