He may not have landed the role of James Bond, but Idris Elba did get the role we all know he was born to play—People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2018.

The London-born actor, 46, is only the third person of colour to be awarded the title in 32 years, following Denzel Washington in 1996 and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in 2016.

“I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?'” the Luther star told People. “Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.”
In a week where the country is divided over the current midterm elections, this might be the most unifying thing to happen in the US this week. And fans took to Twitter to show their support.
Like gracious pageant title-holders before him, Elba used his platform to urge fans to vote in the midterm elections. "What's even more important is your vote in the midterm elections. Your vote can make a difference."
