Ireland's 2018 Eurovision contestant, Ryan O’Shaughnessy, has spoken out about the experience of writing his entry song "Together" - the music video to which features a same-sex love story.
"It’s so incredible to be a songwriter and watch a song unfold before your eyes," O'Shaughnessy said in an Instagram post.
He continued, saying the song "helped to show that love is universal, not gender specific and no matter the relationship there is no high without a low!"
While Australia's very own Jessica Mauboy is already proving a favourite with her track "#We Got Love", O’Shaughnessy says that he's confident he has what it takes to win the competition.
"I’m more than proud to be representing the motherland this year and I’m positive we’ll be bringing it home," he said.

However, not everybody is loving Ryan's message of love, with the singer taking to Twitter to claim that Russia has already threatened to boycott Eurovision because of the same-sex couple depicted in his video.
Ryan previously competed on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 and later appeared on The Voice of Ireland.
