Award-winning rapper Lil Nas X has opened up about the challenges that come with fame, reflecting on his own mental health in the wake of 21-year-old rapper Juice WRLD’s death over the weekend.

The usually private 20-year-old, who recently made history by taking home a Country Music Award, got candid about his emotional well-being with his 3.4 million Twitter followers.

“I usually deal with my sad times in private because i don’t like for my fans or family to feel sorry for me,” the 'Old Town Road' hit-maker wrote.

“This year had a lot of very high ups and extremely low downs. When u get to that hotel room and it’s just you, you do a lot of thinking. Small things become so BIG.”
In a follow-up tweet, the star added: “I like to pretend hate and sh*t don’t get to me, but subconsciously it eats away at me. Feeling like u have the world and knowing it can all go away at any time is scary.”

“With all this being said I want anybody who cared enough to read this to just live in the moment. Love u guys,” the performer concluded.

Fans were quick to commend Lil Nas X for expressing himself.

"It's understandable to feel that way, especially when you blew up so much and so quickly," one fan wrote.

"Just keep doing your thing and take breaks if you have to, try not to let everything get to you too much. Keep being awesome."

Another wrote: "Hey bro, we love you...everyone does."

He added: "Your energy, passion, and music bring everyone together, and brings a positive pace to what is normally a slow and sometimes sad world. The game lost a legend today, but just know that you have fans that love and support you."

After coming out as gay back in June, Lil Nas X revealed that he had once considered never coming out, telling BBC Breakfast: “It was something I was considering just never doing ever, just taking to the grave or something, but I don’t want to live my entire life not doing what I want to do."

He added: “I’m also opening doors for more people. [I hope] that they feel more comfortable.”
