This post contains spoilers from 'Schitt’s Creek' season 6.

Look, it's an age-old question: if you get engaged but don't take painfully awkward engagement photos, did you really get engaged?

According to Schitt's Creek favourites David Rose (played by Daniel Levy) and Patrick Brewer (played by singer/actor Noah Reid), the answer is a firm 'no'.

Anyone familiar with the particular dynamics of David and Patrick's multiple-season relationship wouldn't be surprised to learn that Season 6 of the Canadian comedy sees the lovebirds part-take in an especially awkward engagement shoot - the kind designed to get 'likes' from your distant aunties.

In the set of photos, taken by the town's resident realtor Ray Butani, Patrick looks visibly unimpressed while showing off a fabulously off-colour spray tan, giving him a “practically Sicilian complexion.”

Meanwhile, David art-directs the shoot, telling Butani that he is "going for an English estate in the off season” vibe.

The results are, well, just look for yourself.
“Because you asked so nicely,” the official Schitt’s Creek account wrote on twitter, sharing the four snaps.

Included in the series is a portrait of David posing solo - a nod to the beloved character's 'type a' energy.

However, photography buffs can take a sigh of relief.

While we reckon the original photos are pretty memorable, character Stevie Budd (played by Emily Hampshire) ends up redoing the shoot - giving Patrick's skin some time to, er, readjust.
