A bartender from Mississippi in the United States has gained international coverage after receiving a rather unique phone call at her place of employment, LGBTQI+ bar SIPPS in Gulfport.

Kara Coley posted about the interaction to Facebook, which she stated was "a first" after 17 years of bartending in LGBTQI+ venues.

In the post, Coley transcribes a phone call from a woman, who turned out to be the mother a young gay boy.

The mother, who remains anonymous, contacted the venue in hopes of getting some advice from a LGBTQI+ staff member after her son had come out to her. She told Coley that she didn't want to 'say the wrong thing', and needed her help.

Read the full transcript below:

Me: Good evening, thank you for calling Sipps!
Lady on phone: Is this a gay bar?
Me: Well, we are an 'everybody' bar but yes, mostly gay.
Lady: Can I ask you a [question]?
Me: Sure!
Lady: Are you gay?
Me: YES MA'AM.
Lady: What was the one thing you wanted from your parents when you came out?
Me: Umm...
Lady: My son just came out to me and I don't want to say anything that may mess him up in the head.
Me: Well I think that you should just make sure he knows that you love and accept - wait, do you accept it?
Lady: Well, umm yes if that's what he wants.
Me: You should definitely let him know that you love and accept him! I think everything will be okay from there!
Lady: Okay, well thank you.
Me: You are very welcome and good luck!

Awww. Imagine being that mum and not knowing who to talk to - so deciding to choose your local queer venue. BLESS.
