Alex Bertulis-Fernandes, 23, is currently studying a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design in London, specialising in Visual Communication and Moving Image.

The artist recently tweeted about an experience with one of her teachers in an art class, which has now gone viral and received more than 76,000 retweets.

Bertulis-Fernandes, whose website displays the work of a strong-minded, progressive young woman, tweeted the following:

"Last week one of my art teachers suggested I 'dial down the feminism.' Today I showed him my newest piece:"
Since tweeting about her teacher's advice, Bertulis-Fernandes has received overwhelming support from people. Many are shocked that a teacher would attempt to stifle a student's strong point of view, a trait normally valued in the art world.
Bertulis-Fernandes has since spoken out, thanking people for their support and saying she is now considering making the artwork into prints or shirts, due to requests.
