‘Transparent’ now has a jewellery line that benefits trans rights

Creator Jill Soloway has teamed up with a New-York based jeweller to launch the collection.

Fans of the groundbreaking comedy-dramaTransparent can now purchase jewellery that’s been inspired by the Pfefferman family.

The series creator Jill Soloway has teamed up with New York-based boutique jeweller Catbird to create a collection of two rings and a necklace that celebrate the trans community.

“At Transparent, we are proud to be trans,” says Soloway. “These pieces are subtle and empowering works of art incorporating trans symbology. Wearing them will be a wonderful indicator of allyship and solidarity.”

The pieces—that feature the transgender symbol— are modelled by actors, producers and contributors from the Transparent team, including Amy Landecker, Zachary Drucker, Rain Valdez and Folake Olowofoyeku.

Catbird’s creative director Leigh Batnick Plessner tells Vogue that as a long-time fan of the show—now in its fourth season—the partnership with Soloway made sense.

“This collaboration took two years and it was kismet at the beginning—we cried when we got the go-ahead.”

The collection’s description on Catbird’s website pays tribute to Transparent’s "tender and wry portrait of an American family, and commitment to transgender and non-binary storytelling".

Catbird founder Rony Vardi says that people who purchase pieces from the Transparent collection can rest assured that of the three gold and silver pieces, “you have put your resources into a place that is built on kindness and community.”

Fifty per cent of proceeds from the collection will be donated to the National Centre for Transgender Equality—an organisation dedicated to ending discrimination and injustice against the trans community.
