Iconic singer, actor and fashionista Janelle Monáe has thrown her hat in the ring to play beloved Marvel Comic Universe character Storm in an upcoming sequel to superhero movie Black Panther.

Speaking to Empire, Monáe said: “I definitely have thrown it out there."

She explained: “One of my dreams has always been to play Storm. I don’t know if she comes in Black Panther, but it would be a dream to have her in it. I don’t know where they are with that.”

Regardless, social media users wasted no time bringing Monáe's Storm to life, sharing various fan-fiction designs and illustrations of her in the role.
"Yes! Janelle Monáe would be the perfect Storm for the MCU!" One Twitter user wrote.

Another tweeted: "Janelle Monáe is an incredible artist who actually has depth when it comes to her art.

They continued: "She is a phenomenal actress who has been in Hidden Figures, Moonlight & Harriet etc. So.. it’s official, Janelle needs to be Storm in Black Panther."

Fans of the MCU would know that Storm AKA Ororo Munroe and Black Panther AKA T’Challa are actually married in some iterations of the Marvel comics, and, with Marvel Studios acquiring the rights to X-Men, Storm being written into Black Panther II actually makes sense.

Paging Hollywood execs: make it happen!
