The RSPCA in Southend, Essex has put out a special appeal to find a home for Jodie, a senior Staffy who keeps being overlooked for adoption.

12-year-old Jodie was born with both female and male organs, which staff at the shelter say, “may be off-putting to many, but to her it is not an issue and causes no difficulties”.

According to her report card, Jodie knows how to sit, can be left alone for short periods and loves to snooze. In a tweet, the RSPCA says Jodie is a “gorgeous dog who wants somewhere to retire”.

Jodie has been living at the shelter now for months without a single inquiry, says the RSPCA.

"As a senior Staffy with an unusual physicality we feel she is being overlooked constantly. So we're putting her as our Special Appeal in the hopes of finding an adopter."

Fingers crossed the special appeal can finally find Jodie a loving home.
