If the trailer for Elton John's Rocketman film is anything to go by, it's going to be every bit as camp, colourful and over-the-top as you'd hope.
The so-called “epic musical fantasy” stars 28-year-old Welsh actor and singer Taron Egerton as Sir Elton John and will explore the music icon's life and rise to superstardom.
“Everyone thinks it’s a biopic. It isn’t. It’s a fantasy musical,” Egerton said in an interview with Collider earlier this year.
He added: “So it’s actually his songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments. He’s not the only character that sings."
Egerton also claimed that all performances throughout the film were sung live.
“I will always be singing on set. No miming," the young star said.
"I’m just not interested in doing it that way.”
