The cast of Will & Grace are set to honour the late Debbie Reynolds, who played Grace Adler's mother, Bobbi, in the TV sitcom's original eight-season run.

In the upcoming episode, Grace (Debra Messing) and her sisters (played by Sara Rue and Mary McCormack) join their dad (Robert Klein) to celebrate Bobbi Adler’s birthday - with Grace determined to keep the memory of her mother alive.
“Working with Debbie was really incredible,” Messing said during a panel discussion on Saturday.

“She would come on stage and she was a broad in the greatest sense. She always was entertaining and singing and dancing, and then she was running off and doing a one-woman show, you know, 300 days of the year. It was just crazy.”
Messing said the pair bonded after she gave birth to her son, Roman.

“She and I would sit together and we would talk about being mothers - because I was a new mother - and she would talk about Carrie, and we would talk about the challenges of being a working mom. She really became someone very, very, very special in my heart, and I really wanted us to honour her.”

Messing said the episode was an appropriate send-off for the Singing in the rain star - "It’s funny and it’s moving.”

Messing has previously hinted that she had another big name in mind to join her on-screen family.

“I want Barbra Streisand to come and play Grace’s aunt,” she told EW. “I like the idea of her being Debbie Reynolds’ sister.”
