Riviera is the lavish and thrilling drama that takes us into the rarefied world of a billionaire family on the Côte d'Azur. The first season scrutinises the family dynamic in the wake of the mysterious death of banker Constantine Clios (Anthony LaPaglia). His wife, Georgina (Julia Stiles), endeavours to unearth the darkest secrets of the Clios family to get to the bottom of her husband’s death.

The plot

The second season immediately picks up from the shocking season 1 finale, with the family now reeling from the death of another key character. Georgina maintains her battle for power in the Clios household, and we discover more about her backstory – not least the troubled past she abandoned in America, to reinvent herself in the French Riviera. We also encounter a new family, who harbour their own secrets.

The cast

Returning faces include Georgina, Irina Clios (played by Lena Olin) and her children Christos (Dimitri Leonidas) and Adriana (Roxanne Duran). A newcomer is Georgina’s uncle Jeff, played by new addition to the cast, Will Arnett.

The Elthams include Lady Cassandra, played by Juliet Stevenson, and her children, Daphne (Poppy Delevingne) and Nico (Jack Fox), and Daphne’s husband Raafi (Alex Lanipekun).

How to watch

Season 2 episodes of Riviera premiere Thursdays at 8:30pm on SBS and are available to stream at SBS On Demand after broadcast. Season 1 is also available to stream as a box set at SBS On Demand.
