From epic historical drama New Gold Mountain to the entertainment of The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, SBS stars and shows are part of a huge line up of talent nominated for the 2021 Australian Academy of Cinema Television Arts (AACTA) Awards.

The awards, to be presented at the Sydney Opera House on December 8, recognise outstanding film, television and digital performers and creatives.

AACTA nominations

An impressive range of films and critially acclaimed televisions productions are in the running for the prestigious awards (with technical crafts nominees still be be announced). SBS nominees include:

New Gold Mountain - Kylie du Fresne, Elisa Argenzio // Goalpost Television Pty Ltd / SBS (nominated for Best Miniseries or Telefeature)

The Unusual Suspects - Angie Fielder, Polly Staniford, Naomi Just, Vonne Patiag // Aquarius Films / SBS (nominated for Best Miniseries or Telefeature)

Mastermind - Damian McDermott, Lucy De Luca // SBS & BBC Studios Australia // SBS (nominated for Best Entertainment Program)

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2021 - Paul Clarke, Stephanie Werrett, Josh Martin // Blink TV / SBS  (nominated for Best Entertainment Program)

Adam and Poh's Malaysia in Australia - Adam Liaw, Mike Cardillo // i8 Studio / SBS (nominated for Best LIfestyle Program)

The Cook Up with Adam Liaw - Olivia Hoopmann, Bruce Walters // SBS / SBS  (nominated for Best LIfestyle Program)

The Tailings - Liz Doran, Richard Kelly, Stephen Thomas, Stevie Cruz-Martin, Caitlin Richardson // Good Lark Pty Ltd, The Two Jons & Roar Film (nominated for Best Short Form Drama)

The nominees for Best Documentary were announced in July. Strong Female Lead, which recently screened on SBS as part of the Australia Uncovered documentary series, is one of six nominees.
