One of the greatest what-ifs in television history has happened. Comedy writer Dani Messerschmidt has written a spec script for an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine where the team find the alleged footage of Donald Trump being urinated on in Russia.

In the episode, perfectly titled "The Golden Opportunity", Jake, Rosa and Boyle seize a Russian agent who has the incriminating footage. When they discover it’s the infamous video, they debate what to do with it.

In an interview with Pedestrian, Messerschmidt said the chance to write the episode was too good to pass up.

"Like most Americans, I’ve been rivetted and horrified by politics here lately. One of the most frustrating things, for me, was seeing all of these obviously shady things happen without ever really finding the 'smoking gun', if you will,”  Messerschmidt said.

“So this script was sort of a therapeutic thing for me - to imagine what would happen if that evidence emerged. And even more fun if it ended up in the hands of the Nine-Nine!"

That’s one episode of season 5 sorted.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 4 returns to SBS Viceland on Wednesday 12 April at 8pm.
