‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown' cast members have taken to Twitter to remember comedian and team captain Sean Lock, who has died of cancer aged 58.

Sean Lock was a regular team captain on ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’, seen in Australia on SBS VICELAND.

Lock was known for his often daring, deadpan humour that would sometimes bring other cast members, including host Jimmy Carr, to tears of laughter.

Despite appearing in 167 episodes of the original ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ and 105 episodes of its ‘… Does Countdown’ spin-off, Sean Lock introduced himself in a 2020 advertisement as “that bloke off the telly whose name you can't remember".

But to friend and fellow comic Harry Hill, he was “the comedian’s comedian”. Messages from fellow ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ cast members are among the numerous Twitter tributes.
Fellow team captain Jon Richardson's tribute revealed he'd long been a fan.
Sean Lock was also a writer for other comedians, including Bill Bailey.
He once suggested how he'd like to be remembered.
But in many fans' memories, one clip stands above the others.
Sean Lock is survived by his wife, Anoushka, and their three children.

‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ will continue on SBS VICELAND weeknights at 7:30pm, streaming at SBS On Demand.
