Actress Yoon Yeo-jung, who plays grandmother Soon-ja in the movie "Minari," has been nominated for the 93rd Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. This is the first time that a Korean actor has been nominated for an Academy Award for acting.

Yoon Yeo-jung, Amanda Cypriid of "Manc", Olivia Coleman of "The Father", Maria Baccalova of were nominated for this year's Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Minari received six nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Original Score.

Minari tells the story of a Korean American immigrant family that struggles to take root in an unlikely place.

Yoon Yeo-jung said in an interview with SBS Korean program earlier that the reason why she liked this scenario was because it was a clean and honest scenario.

"You can talk about racial discrimination, but I like it because it's about my seven-year-old grandson's clean and honest eyes. Their parents worked very hard and young boy looked the world with his clean and honest eyes”
