Desserts look tantalising enough when the littlest touch of effort is put into presentation, but Italian chef Matteo Stucchi is taking things to the next level.

The pastry chef from Monza, in the country’s north, has a creative way of serving his sweet treats that shows them in various stages of construction.

Replacing his spatula and piping bag with miniature figurines, he builds life-like scenarios where tiny people add the finishing touches to giant desserts.
A pint-size crane lifting the last flaky layer of pastry onto a vanilla slice, and a centimetre-tall painter lathering chocolate filling on the inside of a macaroon are just a couple of his colourful scenarios.

Stucchi's work has attracted more than 60,000 followers to his Instagram page, where he regularly uploads new shots under the hashtag and handle 'idolcidigulliver'.

Responding to the well-wishes of his many social media fans at the weekend he said, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the appreciation that you haved showed every week for me and my works, it means a lot to me."
